MGCNLCA Wins Gold and Silver in the Fil-Chi Inter School Badminton Tournament
The MGCNLCA High School Badminton Team gave an impressive performance and brought home one gold and two silver medals in the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) Interschool Badminton Tournament held last November 19 in Upper Deck Pasig.
The high school team emerged as the overall champion for the Men’s division, while the Women’s and Mixed teams acquired first runner-up.
Team Captain Brianna See remarked, “Upon watching the team's games, our performance surpassed the standards of the other schools. During the games, we could execute our coaches' tactics and fight hard for the best outcomes.”
Despite achieving podium finishes in the competition, Coach Owen Lopez acknowledged the team still has much to work on in terms of mental game and strategy. “Overall, we’re satisfied with the team’s performance in the tournament. However, the team still needs to work a lot on their accuracy, respect for their opponents and coaches, and their mentality. They need to develop a deeper will to win and the drive to fight until the end.”
Players from the MGCNL High School Badminton Team included a full line-up of seniors with Andre Aw, Andrew Liu, Rhadley Tan, Rhailey Tan, and Jairus Lee competing for the men’s division, and See, Isabelle Ngo, Kristen Chua, Amanda Ching, Ashley Chua, and Sharlize Bayot joining for the women's division.
Participating schools included Xavier School San Juan, Chiang Kai Shek College, Jubilee Christian Academy, CCF Life Academy, St. Stephen's High School, Hope Christian High School, Philippine Cultural College, and Immaculate Conception Academy.
