MGCNLCA Teachers Take Time Off Together to Celebrate Teachers’ Day
MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) teachers spent a day of laughter, games, and fun during the Teachers’ Day celebration held last September 28 at the auditorium.
With the theme “Unsung Heroes,” the event was a smashing success as teachers arrived in their best superhero attire in line with the best costume contest. The winners of the competition were Isaac Coloma as Spiderman, Bridgette Bravo as the Black Panther, and Jeremy Ramos as Star-Lord.
Soon after, teachers were led into breakout rooms where Student Government, Coral Reef, and Whales officers facilitated games such as Lyric Lineup, Guess the Superhero, and the classic Pinoy Henyo. Winners of the games received cash prizes, ranging from ₱500 to ₱1,200.
Guest of honor and MGCNLCA alumnus Pastor Ken Saavaedra paid tribute to the teachers for being the unsung heroes in the lives of their students, himself included. He looked back to his student days and expressed how grateful he was for the teachers who loved him and believed in him.
Afterward, School Director Helen Villanueva reminded the teachers of their vital roles within the school in shaping the future of the school and its students and imparted guidance on heeding the call to their mission as educators.
Mrs. Villanueva then called up to the stage all the former students of Gloria Wei, or Wei Lao Shi (魏老師), as they gave a touching tribute to the impact the former Chinese Department Head had on their lives. The school director then took the lead in praying for the fast recovery of Wei Lao Shi as she battles her ailment.
Aside from the gifts and raffle prizes, the teachers went home with full stomachs after a buffet lunch at Niu by Vikings at SM Aura.
