Galilee Express Their HeART With Culminating Activity
To conclude their unit on self-expression, Grade 5 Galilee students unleashed their creativity through a myriad of art forms with an impressive art showcase titled, “Express Your heART: A Celebration of Our Art Expression.” the event was held last March 22 in the school auditorium.
Students brought their unique perspectives to life by choosing from ten different mediums of expression, including painting, sculpture, Filipino spoken word poetry, photography, videography, digital arts, theater, music, drawing, and dance.
The program kicked off with a captivating display of performance art, where students wowed family members and visitors with singing, musical performances, poetry recitations, and theater acts. Galilee A and B presented a spirited Chinese choral recitation of the school song complete with their own choreography. A lively flash mob danced to the tune of “Can’t Stop The Feeling” added to the excitement, while Galilee C and D delivered their choral recitation.
Following the performances, parents and visitors had the opportunity to explore the visual arts displays in each classroom, where they witnessed the diverse talents and creativity of the Galilee students.
Angelica Ellis, the homeroom teacher of Galilee B, expressed how proud she is of how the students handled their unit. She says, “I can say that they effectively applied their learnings and were able to express their preferred art forms well. Most of their art forms (carry) personal meaning to them and that is what is important – finding meaning and inspiration in the kind of art form you would like to express your emotions in and pour your heart out.”
Galilee C student Lucas Andrew Chung shared that the activity helped him express himself better. “It helped me realize that every art form is unique in its own way. It helped me gain more confidence on stage when speaking and singing in front of a big crowd (and this) might help me in the future,” he said.
