Five New Lifers triumphed at the 14th Asian Math and Science Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools (ASMOPSS) 2024, held in Banyuwangi, Indonesia, from November 10 to 16.

Meanwhile, the team of Damascus student Madeleine Christina Sy and Patmos student Leiff Nathanael Guntiñas placed second runner-up in the Secondary Level team round.
The competition consisted of two rounds, each taking 3.5 hours. The individual round was a written exam of 30 items, while the team round comprised two science problems, three math problems, and one combined problem. Participants were also divided into two levels, Primary and Secondary, depending on their age group.
Founded in November 2011, ASMOPSS aims to promote mathematics and science among the youth while also fostering international relations in those fields. This year’s competition was attended by students from Indonesia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
