First Priority Student Leader Training Empowers MGCNL Student Leaders

With the aim of empowering, inspiring, and training the next generation of leaders, MGC New Life Christian Academy gathered together the school’s student leaders for the First Priority Student Leader Training last October 26 at the MGCNL gymnasium.

Held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event provided a platform for students to hone their leadership skills, collaborate with peers, and gain valuable insights from accomplished speakers.

The training started with messages led by Michael Seymour and Philip Devadas from the First Priority Global Ministries. Seymour and Devadas highlighted the power the youth has to inspire and influence their peers towards positive change, echoing examples of the disciples of Christ regardless of age. These messages provided students with a platform to openly discuss their thoughts, aspirations, and concerns.

Invited student leaders delved into meaningful conversations about what being a “First Priority” means to them, encouraging personal growth and development among attendees.

The talks were followed by a series of activities where the participants wrote down the names of people who had not encountered God on a sheet of paper and had their partner pray for them. The students also had a workshop activity where they signed up for the team they wanted to be in to share, pray, bless, and understand each other more.

Patmos’ Bianca Sy shared, “I think what inspired me the most wasn't just what they came to share, but also the lengths they went just to speak in front of us. When it was revealed that these speakers came all the way to the Philippines without having to be paid, it amazed and shocked me. They paid for their own travel despite their busy schedule and despite the conference only being catered to less than the typical number. It truly showed me their passion and willingness to spread God's word, so I'm blessed to be able to encounter such individuals.”

To wrap up, the speakers had a Q&A session, allowing the students to clarify any doubts, indulge in their curiosity, and gain insights from the speakers.
