God’s Work in Action: National Bible Week Celebrations
MGC New Life Christian Academy’s (MGCNLCA) Christian Education (CE) Department brought the Bible to life for students during National Bible Week last January 27 to 30 by organizing meaningful and engaging events that focused on the Bible’s importance in their lives.
The week-long celebration was observed across all grade levels as the event kicked off with an opening ceremony that featured testimonies from the school community about how the Bible transformed and brought hope to their lives. The opening ceremony concluded with a special number by the Upper Primary Years (UPY) Choir, who sang “Thy Word,” composed by Michael W. Smith.
Inspired by the theme “God’s Word: Source of HOPE” and guided by the verse Romans 15:4, "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope,” the CE Department aimed to foster harmony, obedience, peace, and empowerment among the youth through the Word of God.
In line with this, the CE Department hosted various activities, including Dress-Up-as-Your-Favorite-Bible-Character Day, Bible Trivia, a Bible Verse Contest for the Lower Primary Years students, and Bible Drills with a Twist for the UPY and Junior High School students.
The Bible Week celebrations concluded with a special talk for the Senior High School students by Larry Ang, a school parent and cell group volunteer, about his travels to Israel where God provided for his family and comforted him through Bible verses. Ang’s talk about his visits to historic sites in Israel allowed students to see how real the Bible truly is.
“The Bible is not just a book. It's not something that we just read and then forget about,” shared Rosalee Pagnamitan, the Officer-In-Charge of the CE Department. “When we read it, something happens to us. This book has impacted the lives of so many people and nations; it has transformed lives.”
Novelty booths were also set up in Lobby 2 to sell merchandise such as Bibles, inspirational books, and other items. A Bible Verse/Prayer Wall was also made to encourage the school community to share blessings with one another.
