New Lifers Bag Awards at 6th XMUN Conference

Members of the Model United Nations (MUN) Varsity and Journalism Varsity bagged awards at the 6th Xavier School MUN (XMUN) conference held last January 31 to February 2.

Pauline Isabel Takai of batch Olive was named the Best Delegate as the delegate of China in the World Bank (WB), while Patmos student Justine Bryce Sigua received the Best Memorial and Honorable Mention awards as the first advocate of Singapore in the International Tribunal in the Law of the Sea.

Grade 11 student Zachary Caleb Yap was recognized with the Best Position Paper award as Mehmet Talat in the Historical Parliament Crisis (HPC) committee, while Christian Lucas Garcia of batch Patmos garnered an Honorable Mention as the delegate of Canada in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Furthermore, Olive student Cate Gian Chua received a Verbal Commendation as the delegate of Egypt in the International Council of Museums.

New Lifers also joined the conference as members of the Board of Dais of various committees. Zion students Amanda Dana Chiong, Jana Chloe Dy, and Nathan Gabriel Hao served as the Chair, Rapporteur, and Crisis Analyst of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, WB, and HPC, respectively.

Moreover, Olive student Gabrielle Ruth Hablero was the Vice Chair of WIPO, while Damascus student Justine Kimberly Tan served as the Rapporteur of the Food and Agriculture Organization.

Journalism Varsity members also represented the school in the 6th XMUN as members of the Press Corps, with Zion’s Aidan Riley Kho serving as Press Editor of center-wing news agencies. Pristine J Tsai and Hannah Isabelle Chiu received Honorable Mentions as correspondents for The Fauxy and The Federalist, respectively. 

With the theme “Directing the Renaissance of Diplomacy for Peace and Prosperity,” the sixth iteration of the annual XMUN conference held at the Xavier School campus aimed to empower participants to usher in a new generation of diplomacy to bring about peace and prosperity.
