JS Prom 2025: Once Upon a Dream
Patmos and Olive students stepped into a night of their dreams at MGC New Life Christian Academy’s (MGCNLCA) Junior-Senior Promenade held last March 28 at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Makati, with the theme “Once Upon a Dream.”
As the evening opened with the processional, students made a graceful entrance into the colorful, out-of-a-fairy-tale ballroom and were welcomed as Junior High School Supervisor Karen Fulgencio gave her opening remarks.
The program continued with the much-awaited awarding, with Patmos students Lucas David Lo and Alessi Johanna Chua claiming the titles of Mr. and Ms. Junior. From batch Olive, Kenzo Maverrick Chua and Gabrielle Ruth Hablero were named Mr. and Ms. Senior. Meanwhile, carrying on with a newly-created tradition from last year, the previous Ms. Alma Mater, Annika Kaitlynn Chong, crowned this year’s awardee, Faith Caitlin Ng of batch Olive.
MGCNLCA alumni siblings John Faith Matthew Gacutan and Charissa Joy Gacutan delivered a message encouraging the students to fix their eyes on the Lord, the giver and fulfiller of the desires and dreams of our hearts. Charissa Gacutan capped the message with an inspiring rendition of “I See the Light” from the movie Tangled.
Throughout the evening, student bands Allies of Joy and Beauty and the Beat, Morgan Rusell Chan and Alexander Mark Zheng, and the Da Capo band livened the atmosphere with musical performances. Guests also witnessed the journeys of batches Patmos and Olive through touching audio-visual presentations.
During an intense trivia game, Andrei Lukang, Sofie Jillian Tan, Pauline Isabel Takai, Kelly Ann Chua, and Nathan Andrew Alviar showcased their Disney knowledge and placed among the Top 5 winners. Joanna Uy, Raquiel Pinlac, and Rhenee Sy joined the students as the Top 3 scorers among the participating teachers.
The symbolic turnover ceremony followed, facilitated by Student Government Adviser Gershwin Choa-shi as the outgoing president, Elijah Samuel Tongco, turned over the key of responsibility to the incoming president, Sydney Paige Pesengco. The succeeding candle-lighting ceremony was a meaningful symbol of the transition between juniors and seniors and a reminder to student leaders to shine as lights in the world.
Following the ceremonies was the highly anticipated cotillion waltz, performed by pairs of Patmos and Olive students. The final set of awardees was then announced, with Philip Andrei Chua and Lauren Mielle Wong of batch Olive crowned as the King and Queen of the Night.
The evening concluded with a round of picture-taking and a same-day edit to capture the night’s events. With the official program over, the after-party ensued, with students enjoying the rest of the evening with their friends.
