How the Table (Tennis) Turned: 20th Intramurals Table Tennis Games
The 20th Ichthus Intramurals Table Tennis games produced a mixed set of winners as each category per division had a different batch as its victor last November 7 at the MGC New Life Christian Academy table tennis room.
In the Juniors’ Division, newcomers Nazareth Narwhals clinched first place for the Juniors’ Singles A category. Damascus brought home the gold for the Juniors’ Singles B and Mixed Doubles categories.
For the Seniors’ Division, the Zion Kings claimed their crowns in the Boys’ Singles A, Girls’ Singles B, and Mixed Doubles categories, while Olive triumphed in the Boys’ Singles B and Patmos in the Girls’ Singles A Categories.
Table Tennis Seniors - Jack Kenaz Cheng, Zion STEM
Batch Zion emerged victorious in Boys’ Singles A, Girls’ Singles B, and the Mixed Doubles Division. The Olive Orions finished with a win in Boys’ Division B, while the Hippopatmos had a win in Girls’ Division A.
The competition did not have overall champions but instead adopted a point system for each division win.
Kody Chua and En Duo Wang competed for Zion’s boys’ division while Cindy Xing, Sharliz Siy, and Phoebe Coseip fought in the girls’ division. The Orions alternated Caden Ching, Raphael Castro, Rhailey Tan, and Vaughn Cawaon for the boys’ division, with Cara Gohoc and Janelle Lim competing in the girls’ division.
The Hippopatmos had Joshua Lim and Gabriel Chan for the boys’ division. Lim also participated in Mixed Doubles alongside Krisha Hernandez.
Table Tennis Juniors - Caden Lewis Ching, Olive ABM
The Narwhals sent out Caitlyn Yu and Jia Yi Yaw in Girls’ Singles A to give them the win in their first-ever intramurals. However, the other games were completely overturned by Damascus in the other categories.
The Damascuties’ Lance Ngo and Li Ang won Singles A and B respectively in the Juniors’ Division. The Cuties’ Ngo and Yvonne Yao also conquered the Mixed Doubles category alongside Rhian Hang and Elianna Oleta sweeping the Singles B girls’ category.
Nazareth’s Nigel Ang and Matthew Go won 1st runner-up in Boys’ Singles A, while the Bananas’ Joaquin Abadia won 2nd runner-up. For Boys’ Singles B, Narwhals Sean Go and Mason Cordova placed second while Berea’s Seth Solco came in third.
In the Junior Girls’ Division, Yvonne Yao of Batch Damascus, and Amarah Oleta of Berea clinched second and third place, respectively, for Singles A. Results for the Girls’ Singles B were similar to the boys’ division, with Nazareth securing silver from the Reese Hang and Karen Young combo. Meanwhile, Berea earned themselves a bronze from Jung Eun Kim and Gabrielle Chua Cham.
Lastly, in the Mixed Doubles category, Nazareth’s Nigel Ang and his partner Samantha Young secured the silver, while the bronze went to Liam Chua and Amarah Oleta of Berea.
