“There’s froyo in school?!” MGCNLCA Welcomes a New Cafeteria Concessionaire
With the start of the S.Y. 2024-2025, MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) welcomes Green Leaf by the Institute of Culinary Management Inc. (ICMI) as the brand-new cafeteria concessionaire.
Operating in MGCNLCA’s Cafeterias 1 and 2, Green Leaf provides a wide range of food selections, including pastries, drinks, rice meals, desserts, and many more.
Beef salpicao, breaded fish with mango salsa, grilled chicken kebab with yogurt, fusilli with tomato cream sauce, Vietnamese beef pho, strawberry cheesecake, and froyo are just some of the items on the menu of Green Leaf.
“With the new cafeteria, we will have more and better food choices, as it is run by trained chefs,” said Student Affairs and Welfare (SAW) Head Rhenee Victoria Sy.
In addition to being fresh and enticing, the products are also nutritious and healthy. Green Leaf has been managing cafeteria concessionaires for fifteen years, with MGCNLCA being their ninth school. Leading the team is Head Chef Nancy Edralin and Managing Director Lorvi Mapa who are in charge of overseeing the fifteen employees and ensuring that the food is tasty, nourishing, and safe.
Unlike before, the breakfast and lunch menus of the new concessionaire now rotate on different days of the week, offering teachers and students a variety of foods to choose from. On weekdays, onsite-baked snacks, dishes, and drinks are served from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Moreover, the new concessionaire has made pre-ordering meals easier through an app called Meal Manage. By utilizing this app, the school community can order ahead of time, pay online, and avoid the line.
To get started, all one has to do is create an account, put money in the account, and start choosing the meals they want to purchase for any day of the week. When placing an order via the app, users can also specify any dietary restrictions, medical issues, or special requests they have. Aside from ordering online, students can buy and pay in-person, using cash, GCash or their Meal Manage load by presenting their school ID.
As this new system tracks orders more effectively, it makes the job easier for both staff and buyers. On the day of the scheduled pick-up, students and teachers can simply pick up their pre-ordered meals, which are labeled and prepared at the designated cafeteria areas for their respective grade level.
As an institution dedicated to educating, promoting, and providing well-balanced meals, Green Leaf hopes to make the MGCNLCA community enjoy mealtimes and understand the importance of eating healthy.
“Not only do we want our food to taste great, but [we] also make sure that, through what we serve, we are also able to educate the students,” remarked Mapa.
Aside from Green Leaf, previous concessionaires like Jimini Pizza, Shawarma House, Dimsum Bites, and Pure and Fresh are still around to serve the school community.
