MGCNLCA’s Student Leaders’ Retreat 2023 is Back

Coral Reef Fellowship (CRF) Officers, Whales Officers, and members of the Student Government (SG) convened in the school auditorium last July 31 for a day of enlightenment, rejuvenation, and solidarity amongst their peers, in preparation for the new school year.

In line with the school’s theme, “Called to Climb,” the event was centered on solidity. The leadership retreat aimed to inspire the students to find solidity in God as a means to climb high and simultaneously enable others to do so.

“I pray that they will be true to their commitment to God and [to] student leadership,” expressed the newly-appointed principal, Mrs. Evangeline Co.

The school director, Mrs. Helen Villanueva, spoke on the importance of influence, the power of communication and collaboration, and embracing diverse perspectives and skills. Meanwhile, Christian Education Department Consultant Mrs. Michelle Ching spoke about the essence of finding solidity in faith.

Mr. Gershwin Choa-shi, the SG faculty adviser, capped the retreat with a message on becoming solid yet malleable, like steel, with characteristics of flexibility and versatility.

The students also strengthened their bonds over team-building activities and campfire songs arranged by Mrs. Helen Villanueva, Mrs. Evangeline Co, and Mr. Gershwin Choa-shi as they prepared to work hand-in-hand in the upcoming school year
