Love Kita: Ate-Kuya Day 2024
The ates and kuyas, or support service staff, of MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) form the backbone of the school—making it a clean and safe environment for everyone. They never hesitate to go out of their way and offer assistance to teachers, parents, and students.
To appreciate the hard work and dedication of the ates and kuyas, a group of Olive students brought back the Ate-Kuya Day as their social impact project, staging it for the third consecutive year. With the theme “Love Kita,” the event held last November 16 at the auditorium was packed with fun games, touching messages, and exciting raffles and gifts to express the school community’s gratitude to the school’s support service staff.
School Director Helen Villanueva opened the event by recognizing each of the unique, irreplaceable roles of the support service staff in the school.
After the praise and worship, the ates and kuyas participated in exciting games such as Human Bingo, Emoji Hula, Ultimate Jack N’ Poy, and The Pinaka Game. The winning group of Randy Ortega, John Mark Nieva, Jon Earl Sanchez, Joemalyn Estrael, and Joselito Fulleros earned the right to be the first to choose their prize from a pool of chips, snacks, soft drinks, and cash prize.
High School Filipino Subject Leader Marife Aquino-Posada then shared a heartfelt message with the support service staff to motivate them and recognize their impact on the school community.
Each ate and kuya received a loot bag with rice, canton noodles, Akari fan, kamote chips, and love gift. Additionally, pans and pots, a toaster, stand fans, an induction cooker, a microwave, blue lights, electric kettles, and an emergency light were given to various raffle winners.
The organizers then showcased a special video presentation that shared the heartfelt messages of appreciation and gratitude of students and teachers, to honor the ates and kuyas.
School Principal Evangeline Co closed the program by encouraging everyone to embrace every opportunity to grow. To wrap up the event, Safety, Security, and Logistics Coordinator Nicky Cawaon expressed how much he values the constant hard work, dedication, and cooperation of each ate and kuya.
Ate Rowena Orbon shared, “Ang pakiramdam ko masayang-masaya, sobrang saya dahil na-experience namin taon-taon ito at na-appreciate ng mga bata ang mga effort namin.”
