MGCNLCA Swimmers Secure 3rd Overall at the BSM Spark Meet

The MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) Swimming Varsity achieved an outstanding overall 3rd place finish at the BSM Spark Meet, held at the British School Manila last November 24, bringing home an impressive haul of gold, silver, and bronze medals in both individual and relay events.

GIRLS’ INDIVIDUALS

Alexandra Wang (Grade 3) delivered an outstanding performance and bagged four gold medals in the 100m Individual Medley (IM), 25m freestyle, 25m breaststroke, and 25m butterfly. Nichelle Dela Cruz (Grade 6) added to the tally with gold in the 50m backstroke, silver in both the 200m IM and 50m freestyle, and bronze in the 50m butterfly. Meanwhile, Nicolle Writz (Grade 4) snagged silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze in the 50m freestyle.

BOYS’ INDIVIDUALS

Baron Ong (Grade 7) secured gold in the 50m breaststroke and silvers in the 200m IM and 50m freestyle, while Evan Gaw (Grade 6) took bronzes in the 50m breaststroke and 200m IM. 

RELAY

The relay teams delivered exceptional results across various categories. The boys’ 200m freestyle relay team, consisting of Ong, Gaw, Isaac Yu (Grade 6), and David Yu (Grade 7), surged to gold, as well as a silver finish in the 200m medley relay. On the other hand, the girls’ 200m freestyle relay team of Dela Cruz, Solene Wong (Grade 6), Brielle Ong (Grade 7), and Rianne Kho (Grade 7) garnered bronze.

The younger swimmers also showed great skill, with Wang, Kirin Uy (Grade 2), Jaden Amoroso (Grade 2), and Preia Pua (Grade 3) securing silver in the 100m freestyle relay and bronze in the 100m IM relay. Meanwhile, the seniors team of Philip Chua (Grade 11), Adrian Wong (Grade 11), Aidan Kho (Grade 12), and Ralph Lee (Grade 12) made their mark as they garnered bronze in the 200m freestyle relay.


With their strong performance at the BSM Spark Meet, the MGCNLCA Swimming Varsity has proven their skill and determination, setting a high standard for future competitions. “We did pretty well [in] this competition. Hopefully, we can keep up this level of performance, especially with the younger swimmers who show promising potential,” shared Team Captain Aidan Kho. The team’s impressive medal haul has motivated them to strive for excellence as they continue to build on this strong foundation in the meets to come.
