New Lifers Garner MUN and Journalism Awards
New Lifers concluded the year on a high note, gaining significant recognition at the 13th Ateneo Model United Nations (AMUN), the 1st Benilde Senior High School Model United Nations (BSHSMUN), and the 21st Word Cup Philippines National Journalism Conference.
At AMUN held last April 11 to 13, Cailey Tin of Berea A shone brightly by securing the coveted Best Delegate and Best Position Paper awards in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), representing Ukraine. Concurrently, in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Bianca Sy from Patmos C, who portrayed the United States of America, garnered the Honorable Mention award. Jana Dy of Olive ABM, acting as the delegate of Sweden, earned a verbal commendation.
Joining Tin, Sy, and Dy in the spotlight are Dana Chiong of Olive ABM and Gabrielle Hablero of Patmos C, who served as rapporteurs for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), respectively. These outstanding performances led the MGC New Life Christian Academy Model United Nations varsity team to win the prestigious Best Small Delegation award.
The success continued at the BSHSMUN conference, conducted last May 16 to 17, where Sy received the Outstanding Delegate award in the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) committee, representing China. Sy's achievements extended beyond MUN as she also secured a Gold medal in Copyreading at the 21st Word Cup Philippines National Journalism Conference, held last May 4 to 5 at Angels' Hills Tagaytay.
