Dream Team Sweeps Student Government Election: Tongco is Elected President

In a climactic conclusion to days of spirited campaigning, the "Dream Team" emerged victorious in MGC New Life Christian Academy's Student Government (SG) election, with its standard-bearer Elijah Samuel Tongco securing the coveted position of President for the upcoming school year against Bianca Iyesha Sy. Tongco succeeds Janelle Dominique Lim, taking the helm of student leadership for S.Y. 2024-2025.

Running unopposed, Bryce William Co clinched the role of External Vice President (EVP), and Sydney Paige Pesengco emerged triumphant in the battle for Internal Vice President (IVP) against Vanna Isabelle Ho. Carissa Megan Chiong will serve as next year’s Secretary, alongside Faith Caitlin Ng and Arron Sunny Lim, who will serve as Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Treasurer, respectively. The Business Manager (BM) position was won by Annika Stella Tan, with Annalia Eve Hui as her Assistant Business Manager (ABM).

Meanwhile, the newly-elected level representatives are as follows: Benno Julian Ang, Raiden Kenzo Cabilangan, Joshua Samuel Chiu, and Brielle Dominique Ong for Nazareth; Nigel Timothy Ang, Kylie Gabriella Pesengco, and Thomas John Pesengco for Berea; Kyle Maverick Chua for Damascus; Drew Kenzo Chua, Hans Lewis Kho, and Bethany Grace Tan for Patmos; Kenzo Maverrick Chua, Bellina Patrice Fontarum, and Joshua Aiden Lim for Olive. 

Grades 6 to 12 students convened in the auditorium last April 15, Monday, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., for the much-anticipated SG campaign speeches. Three days later, they cast their votes either at the 6th floor computer lab or via Google Forms. A remarkable 447 out of 583 students, or 83.09% of the voting population, exercised their right to vote, marking a significant increase of 12.36% from the previous year.
