Outside the Four Walls: Grade 11 Students Attend Second PriZm Project
Grade 11 Olive students of MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNL) stepped outside the four walls of their classroom last March 20, for the “PriZm Project,” an Entrepreneurship and Marketing Conference held in R.O.X. at Bonifacio Global City.
This marks the second collaboration of Primer Group of Companies and the Entrepreneurship class MGCNL’s Senior High School Department. From 1:00 to 6:00 pm, the Olive students showed off their creativity and innovation as they engaged with various industry leaders and presented their assigned case briefs from Primer.
“Overall it was a nice getaway and different environment from our regular classroom setting with just lectures and paper-based activities. It was really fun to get to experience how a big retailer works and see the entrepreneurial concepts the company is applying,” said ABM student Amanda Chiong.
R.O.X.’s Assistant Vice President for the Outdoor and Action Sports Category Tiffany Batungbacal kicked off the conference by encouraging students to prioritize societal impact over income and personal interest, no matter what field they decide to pursue.
A quick icebreaker energized the students before they spent the majority of the afternoon presenting their assigned case briefs to some of Primer’s top executives, where students interacted with various field experts from brands like Jansport and Travel Company. According to ABM student Caden Ching, “It was good practice to have before the research papers we are currently writing, and the way each case was different made it more fun and exciting to present as everything is different.”
In between the case presentations, Concept Store Group Manager Jenica Operio shared her keynote message about the retail industry, emphasizing the importance of innovation in an ever-changing society.
Even as the conference neared the end, the students kept up their competitive spirits, as they participated in a 20-minute TikTok challenge headed by Poler, Primer Group’s outdoor brand. Students scrambled around R.O.X, using various store materials as props to create TikTok videos highlighting various Poler products.
STEM student Carlo Chua voiced, “I found it interesting because even if I’m a STEM student, it’s nice to get a sneak peek into what ABM students will be doing in the future just in case I might want to try it out.”
Entrepreneurship teacher Michel Co and Senior High School supervisor Rosalee Pagnamitan culminated the day by awarding the students who excelled during the conference and thanking the various people who made the event possible.
