Leadership Changes Greet New School Year at MGCNLCA
Marking a new chapter in its educational journey, MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) begins S.Y. 2023-2024 with the appointment of former Principal Mrs. Helen Villanueva as school director and former Early Years Supervisor Mrs. Evangeline Co as the new school principal.
MGCNLCA Board Chair Mr. James Tioco officially announced the leadership changes during the General Parents’ Orientation held this week through Zoom.
“As we embark on this new chapter under Mrs. Villanueva's visionary leadership, we can expect a continued commitment to excellence, compassion, and innovation. Together, we will create a thriving educational environment that empowers our students to become compassionate, confident, and principled leaders, ready to make a positive impact on our society,” stated Mr. Tioco.
Mrs. Villanueva has led the school for over three decades, steering it through various obstacles and challenges in its mission to impart strong Christian values while nurturing academic excellence in New Lifers. As the new school director, the former principal will oversee the whole school, implement administrative functions, and act as the link to the school board and staff as well as to institutions outside of MGC New Life.
“Through her visionary leadership, we are confident that MGC New Life Christian Academy will continue to stand as a beacon of excellence and a testament to the transformative power of high-quality education rooted in Christian values,” said the board chair about Mrs. Villanueva.
“With the new appointment bestowed upon me, I am humbled and grateful to the Lord to be your school director. Nothing changes in heart and commitment. It is my goal to continue the legacy of success through collaboration, hard work, and a strong community partnership,” assured Mrs. Villanueva.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Co banks on her 15 years of being the preschool supervisor as she takes charge of all academic concerns as the new school principal. This includes overseeing curriculum development, student evaluation, discipline, and faculty management, as well as ensuring the smooth operation and successful academic development of the school.
“Throughout my 25-year journey at MGC New Life,” Mrs. Co shared, “I have witnessed the transformative power of God's presence within the walls of the school. As I embark on this new chapter, I hold steadfast to three guiding principles that I want to share with you: trust, obey, and surrender. The Lord shall carry us forward as we trust, obey and surrender to Him.”
Aside from the designations of Mrs. Villanueva and Mrs. Co, the incoming school year marks other leadership changes.
Former Junior High School Home Economics teacher Ms. Rhenee Victoria Sy will assume her new role as the Coordinator of the Student Affairs and Welfare (SAW) office.
International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) Coordinator Mrs. Michelle Anog returns to the Lower Primary Department as its supervisor, while Mrs. Emie Joane Guintu will serve as the officer-in-charge (OIC) of the IB PYP.

Former Lower Primary Supervisor Mrs. Cristina Goson assumes her new role as head of the Christian Education Department, following the retirement of its former head, Mrs. Michele Ching.
