New Lifers Win Silver in Mixed Math Competition

MGC New Life Christian Academy high school students secured silver medals at the recent 2024 Inter School AlGeTriS Competition held last January 26 at the main campus of Chiang Kai Shek College (CKSC).

The team of Caitlyn Stephanie Yu from Nazareth, Maribeth Jullian Tiong from Berea, Zachary Thomas Sy from Damascus, and Faith Caitlin Ng from Patmos emerged as first runner up with 48 points after being tested for three rounds in the categories of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics.

“I really had fun during the math competition as it was only my second physical competition after the pandemic. I think that made the whole team feel more pressured to perform well. Though we didn't do particularly well on the easy round, I think we made up for it from the overall experience of having a face-to-face competition,” Yu stated.

The team from Chinese International School Manila won first place with 54 points while Immaculate Conception Academy garnered third with 37 points.
