New Lifers Triumph at the 2nd POVMUN and 5th XMUN
New Lifers displayed their eloquence once again at the recent 2nd Poveda Model United Nations (POVMUN) and 5th Xavier Model United Nations (XMUN) conferences held from March 15 to 16 and March 22 to 24, respectively.
At POVMUN, Patmos B student Lauren Mielle Wong, as representative of China, secured the coveted Best Delegate and Best Position Paper awards in the World Health Organization (WHO). Joining her in the limelight were Faith Caitlin Ng of Patmos B, Sophia Jadrine Sy of Berea C, and Sadie Bryanna Chen of Nazareth C, each receiving the Honorable Mention awards for their outstanding performances respectively in the WHO as India, UN Conference on Trade and Development as Poland, and UN Human Rights Council as Indonesia, respectively.
The outstanding performance of the MGC New Life Christian Academy Model United Nations (MGCNLCA MUN) varsity led to the team winning the prestigious Best Delegation award at POVMUN.
Meanwhile, in XMUN, Olive STEM’s Nathan Gabriel Hao bagged Best Position Paper in the Joint Committee Crisis as Gonzalo Queipo de Llano while Bianca Iyesha Sy of Patmos C garnered an Honorable Mention in the International Olympic Committee as Ms. Anita DeFrantz. Justine Bryce Sigua of Damascus D and Zachary Caleb Yap of Patmos B also received Verbal Commendations from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Adding to the accolades, Olive ABM’s Amanda Dana Chiong, Jana Chloe Dy, and Gabrielle Ruth Hablero of Patmos C served as Board of Dais members for the UN General Assembly, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and NATO, respectively.
Raine Alexis Kho of Zion ABM and Brianna Chloe See of Zion STEM were appointed to the 5th XMUN Editorial Board as Press Editors.
Lastly, Press Correspondents Aidan Riley Kho of Olive STEM for SMNI, Carissa Maegan Chiong of Damascus A for The New York Post, and Pristine Tsai of Damascus C for The Guardian all received Honorable Mentions for their contributions to the Press Corps.
