Match Point: MGCNL Fights for a Chance at the 2024 Badminton NCR Athletic Meet

Eleven players from MGCNLCA qualified for the 2024 NCR Athletic Meet at the Philippine Army Gym after numerous days of competing against other schools in the Taguig-Pateros Division Athletic Meet.

The following players clinched gold medals in the division meet held last March 10, garnering the champion titles in their respective categories, thus qualifying for the regional meet.

Rhadley Tan, Brianna See, and Lucas Cheung bagged the Most Valuable Player titles in their respective Singles categories. Rhadley Tan competed in Singles A, while Rhailey Tan and Jairus Lee played in Doubles. See represented MGCNLCA in Singles A with Isabelle Ngo playing in Singles B. Amanda Ching and Ashley Chua teamed up for the Doubles category.  Cheung played in Singles A, Caleb Tiu played in Singles B, and Chelsie Co and Kate Liao represented the green and white for Doubles.

In addition to the high school and elementary girls, the team consists of a full lineup of players who had not competed in the NCR Meet since the pandemic. However, this did not hinder the team from advancing to the succeeding stages, as they already had previous experiences in joining tournaments.

Winning at the NCR Athletic Meet will be the ultimate test of the skill, talent, and hard work required of an athlete in the sport. Only time will tell if these players have what it takes to clinch the championship.
