MGCNLCA MUN Kick-Starts the Year with Three Wins at the 10th DLSMUN
The MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) Model United Nations (MUN) delegation began the school year on a high note, winning three awards at the 10th De La Salle MUN (DLSMUN) Conference, held from August 8 to 10.
Justine Bryce Sigua (Patmos B) snagged the much-coveted Best Delegate and Best Position Paper awards as the delegate of Sweden in the World Trade Organization (WTO). Meanwhile, Sophia Jadrine Sy (Damascus C) received a verbal commendation for her performance as the delegate of Mozambique in the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (International Automobile Federation), where she discussed sustainable planning on expanding the sporting team within the Formula 1 Grid.
“It was hard going from bed-rotting to having to create more than 10 pages of research, writing position papers, and talking to hundreds of people within a matter of days… It felt great to re-participate in something I really enjoyed. It reminded me of all the experiences I had before,” Sigua reminisced.
Aside from Sigua and Sy, the MGCNLCA delegation also had Grade 9 students Anne Charlotte Paw and Cailey Amielle Tin, and Grade 10 students Roberto Fulgencio III and Christian Lucas Garcia, who participated in committees such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Third United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The 10th DLSMUN was held at the De La Salle University-Manila Campus with over 400 delegates from all over the Philippines and guest speakers from the Department of Education, the University of the Philippines, and the ASEAN Youth Convergence.
