Olive Students Choose Right With No Apologies for Their Future
Olive students explored the realities of life, love, and the importance of wise decision-making at Choosing Right: Seniors Edition. Formerly known as True Love Waits, the event was organized by the Guidance Department, and held from March 4 to 5, 2025 at MGC New Life Christian Academy.
The new title emphasizes the significance of students making informed choices in their lives and futures while staying grounded in Christian values, as well as encouraging students to embrace commitment and purity as they approach a new chapter of their lives.
The two-day program started with the No Apologies workshop by Focus on the Family. Guest facilitators Jean Galang, the Creative Advocacies Director of the Wavemakers, Shamira Japitana, the National Training Coordinator of Wavemakers, and Denmarc Manalo, a pastor at All Generations Church, guided the students in making wise decisions for their future, enabling them to live a life of integrity with no apologies and no regrets.
Throughout the two sessions, the speakers shared information on one’s unique identity, relationships, and the importance of good character and proper boundaries. By engaging in a series of interactive activities, students were provided with a visual representation of these concepts, fostering engagement and deeper understanding.
At the end of the sessions, each student vowed to uphold their commitment to purity before marriage by signing pledge cards.
A special session with the parents then commenced with Pastor Jay Banzuelo sharing insights to the students and their parents, focusing on the importance of family values. A professor at the Febias College of Bible, Banzuelo highlighted the significance of committing to the Lord and building up children’s character as they grow up.
Parents then committed to being present in their children’s lives while also showing constant love and support and shaping their future with care. Meanwhile, the students pledged to honor, respect, and appreciate their parents, acknowledging their love and sacrifices and promising to make decisions that reflect good values.
Afterward, parents gave their children letters they wrote to express their love and appreciation, accompanied by a special token to always remind them of their commitment to purity.
The event ended with School Director Helen Villanueva’s closing remarks as she expressed her gratitude to the parents for being able to attend the event and reinforced the important role that the school and parents play in guiding children toward a life of purity.
