New Lifers Given the 2023 DOST YES Award
A total of sixty-two New Lifers were awarded the Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Award 2023 last December for international competitions won in 2022.
Given by the Science Education Institute (SEI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the YES Award is an annual award given to Filipino students to recognize their participation and triumph in international mathematics, science, and robotics competitions.
Among the hundreds of awardees this year, MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) students across ten batches were able to receive this award.
The grade 3 awardees were Beatrice Sara Yu, Harper Mackenzie Uy, Liam Reign Chuco, Manolo Vito Tan, and Maxine Gianna Chua.
Grade 4 DOST YES recipients included Evander Mael Robert Lao, Jacob Albert Chua, Nathan Gohoc, Theo Chan, and Yul Kwon.
DOST also awarded grade 5’s Alyssa Grace Ng, Keisha Elise Wang, and Michael Ryan Chong.
Grade 6 awardees were Caleb Zachary Tiu, Johann Audric Chan, Mason Gavin Chua, Michiko Meredith Tiong, Pierce Victor Takai, Skylar Freya Ang, and Tyler Gavin Uy.
Grade 7 awardees included Anya Taylor Chong, Caitlyn Stephanie Yu, Eunice Mikayla Valdez, Kate Marie Aquino, Marco Dylan Ho, Nathaniel John Sia, and Yi Zhong.
For grade 8, the DOST YES recipients were Annika Angeline Browne, Austin Michael Tan, Cassandra Jade Ortiga, Hope Kelia Ng, Maribeth Jullian Tiong, and Samara Fionna Ang.
For grade 9, Aaron Russel Kho, Evan Tyler Sy, Jairus Jacob Lee, Laira Caylee Chunpeng, Lance Ngo, Nathan Andrew Alviar, and Zachary Thomas Sy received the award.
The grade 10 students awarded were Chloe Grace Ang, Faith Caitlin Ng, Kailey Alyssa Chua, Magnus Alexander Cabilangan, and Matthew Ryan Chong.
The grade 11 awardees were Aidan Riley Kho, Annika Kaitlynn Chong, Carlo Gabriel Chua, and Nathan Gabriel Hao, while grade 12 awardees included Andre Gerard Aw, Annika Joan Lee, Elliot Xander Albano, Jeslyn Kaydee Gonzaga, Kyle Aidan Chua, Sharliz Danielle Siy, and Wesley John Co.
Meanwhile, MGCNLCA alumni Rickson Caleb Tan of Batch 19 and Shawn Darren Chua and Dominique Paulyne Pesengco of Batch 18 were also given the YES Award, along with former New Lifers Annika Justine Lim and Victoria Bella Uy of Batch 21.
