New Lifers Rise to Excellence with 2024 DOST YES Awards
Fifty-eight New Lifers were honored with the Youth Excellence Science (YES) Award 2024 last December in recognition of their accomplishments in international competitions held throughout 2023.
The Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) grants the YES Award annually to Filipino students excelling internationally in mathematics, science, and robotics competitions.
Like previous years, MGC New Life Christian Academy’s (MGCNLCA) awardees came from various grade levels, demonstrating the school’s consistent excellence in academics. They are:
Grade 5: Evander Mael Robert Lao, Jacob Albert Chua, Moira Ellyse Cordova, Nathan Gohoc, Theo Chan, and Yul Kwon.
Grade 6: Alyssa Grace Ng, Ember Prinze Wong, Keisha Elise Wang, and Michael Ryan Chong.
Grade 7: Brielle Dominique Ong, Caleb Zachary Tiu, Johann Audric Chan, Michiko Meredith Tiong, Pierce Victor Takai, Raiden Kenzo Cabilangan, Skylar Freya Ang, and Tyler Gavin Uy.
Grade 8: Anya Taylor Chong, Caitlyn Stephanie Yu, Eunice Mikayla Valdez, Kate Marie Aquino, Marco Dylan Ho, Nathaniel John Sia, Sachi Caitlyn Esteban, Sean Matthew Go, and Yi Zhong.
Grade 9: Annika Angeline Browne, Austin Michael Tan, Cassandra Jade Ortiga, Maribeth Jullian Tiong, and Samara Fionna Ang.
Grade 10: Aaron Russel Kho, Laira Caylee Chunpeng, Lance Ngo, Nathan Andrew Alviar, and Yejoon Cho.
Grade 11: Faith Caitlin Ng, Kailey Alyssa Chua, Magnus Alexander Cabilangan, and Matthew Ryan Chong.
Grade 12: Aidan Riley Kho, Annika Kaitlynn Chong, Carlo Gabriel Chua, Cara Elise Gohoc, and Nathan Gabriel Hao.
Additionally, MGCNLCA alumni Rickson Caleb Tan of Batch 19 and Andre Gerard Aw, Annika Joan Lee, Elliot Xander Albano, Hans Dominic Gamboa, Jeslyn Kaydee Gonzaga, and Kyle Aidan Chua of Batch 20 were given the YES Award, along with former New Lifers Chloe Grace Ang, Evan Tyler Sy, Zachary Thomas Sy, and Liam Reign Chuco.
